The monumental Cultural House building can be found without trouble in the very centre of the Górnicze District. Its entrance is guarded by two stone statues of a miner and foundry worker. This enormous building is of dimensions not often found in a city of Kowary’s size. It was built in the early 1950s in the style of Socialist Realism. It is a memorial and reminder of sorts of the prosperity associated with the extraction of uranium ore in Kowary’s mines. Today it is the head office of the City Cultural Centre and the city’s library.
Inside, aside from the reading room, the exhibition hall and the workshop, we can admire the viewing hall, whose walls are decorated with reliefs by Antoni Mehl dedicated to the obvious theme of mining.
